Announcing our First Friday CLE event:

How the ADA Supplements §1983 and Makes Some Civil Rights Cases Easier for Creating Institutional Change

February 5, 2010
12:00-1:00PM

1 hour of CLE credit

Live Teleconference by:

James C. Harrington--Director,Texas Civil Rights Project

Description:  The Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA") offers an alternative vehicle for vindicating the rights of people with physical, developmental, and mental disabilities beyond that accorded by §1983.  This presentation explores how the ADA fills a void left by §1983 decisional law in the context of government and law enforcement personnel.  It will examine how §1983 and the ADA can go hand-in-hand to make a stronger lawsuit, and how at times the ADA can inform §1983 standards.
